Taylor Swift Achieves Historic Milestone as Most Awarded Artist at Billboard Music Awards
Taylor Swift rang in the eve of her 35th birthday by making history at the Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs), earning the title of the most awarded artist ever.
Entering the Thursday night event, the “Bejeweled” artist was on par with Drake, both having 39 wins throughout their careers. With 17 nominations across 16 categories, she had a good chance to surpass.
“This is like the best early birthday present I could ask for, so thank you very much!” Swift expressed in a video after the announcement, and then affectionately kissed one of the golden microphones she received.
The talented singer-songwriter secured 10 BBMAs for her accomplishments in 2024, which included:
- Top Artist
- Top Female Artist
- Top Billboard 200 Artist
- Top Hot 100 Artist
- Top Hot 100 Songwriter
- Top Streaming Songs Artist
- Top Radio Songs Artist
- Top Billboard Global 200 Artist
- Top Billboard Global (excluding U.S.) Artist
- Top Billboard 200 Album for “The Tortured Poets Department”
“I want to thank the Billboard awards,” Swift stated. “Thank you to the fans, as Billboard counts your preferences. They track what you listen to and the albums you love. Thus, I view these as fan-voted awards, since you are the ones supporting our music and attending our concerts.”
The mastermind behind the Eras Tour now boasts an impressive total of 49 career wins. Swift was also nominated in categories like Top Hot 100 Producer, Top Song Sales Artist, and several others, although she did not win those.
Miss Americana, however, did not attend the pre-recorded BBMAs after concluding her record-breaking tour in Vancouver just the night before. Her tour raked in $2,077,618,725 in ticket sales and attracted 10,168,008 fans.
Earlier that Thursday, she made a surprise visit to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, where she delighted patients, families, and staff by visiting rooms, taking photos, and signing her Eras Tour book.
In one heartwarming moment captured on social media, a young boy told Swift, “I like Travis now.” She enthusiastically replied, “Yes, me too! That’s a definite yes. Is he your favorite player?”
