How many VMAs did Taylor Swift win last night? Discover the singer’s record-breaking total
It must be tiring cheering for someone other than Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards, as the pop icon just keeps shining brighter.
On Wednesday, Swift swept the VMAs, claiming seven awards – the highest number of wins in a single night and making history with a total of 30 wins as a solo artist.
The evening kicked off with a significant win as she received the best collaboration award for “Fortnight,” a track from the “Tortured Poets Department” featuring Post Malone. Malone joined Swift on stage, where she praised him as “the favorite person for everyone in music” to collaborate with.
To conclude the night, Swift won the coveted video of the year award for “Fortnight.” She now holds the record for the most victories in that category, with five wins, including three consecutive ones since 2022, for “Bad Blood,” “You Need to Calm Down,” “All Too Well,” “Anti-Hero,” and “Fortnight.”

Did Taylor Swift hint at ‘Reputation (Taylor’s Version)’ during the VMAs?
Fans eagerly waiting for the announcement of “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” were on high alert for any potential news from the singer during the awards show. However, Swift did not reveal anything about “Reputation” or any upcoming projects, leaving fans to keep waiting for her next re-recorded album.
However, there was a basis for speculation, as Swift’s previous two albums of entirely new music were both announced during award ceremonies: “The Tortured Poets Department” was introduced at the 2024 Grammys, and “Midnights” at the 2022 VMAs. Critics did express some dissatisfaction regarding the “Tortured Poets” announcement at the Grammys, arguing that it overshadowed other artists’ achievements that night.
Despite not announcing new music, Swift did provide an exciting moment in her final speech of the night, mentioning her boyfriend Travis Kelce, which ignited a huge cheer from the audience in the UBS Arena on Long Island.
“Whenever I finished a take and said cut, I always heard someone cheering and saying ‘woo!’ from across the studio where we were shooting,” Swift shared. “And that person was my boyfriend, Travis. Everything he does brings joy, fun, and magic.”
