Tennessee secured an impressive victory on the road against Oklahoma, allowing the Volunteers to surpass Alabama and enter the top four of this week’s YSL News Sports NCAA Re-Rank 1-134.

The No. 4 ranked Volunteers have demonstrated remarkable balance throughout their first four games. They currently sit fourth nationally in yards gained per game and occupy the second spot in scoring offense, while their defense is first in the Bowl Subdivision for least yards allowed per game.

Considering their recent victory in Oklahoma’s debut in the SEC, it is clear that Tennessee has earned its place ahead of Alabama in this week’s rankings.

This ranking could soon change as No. 5 Alabama is set to play No. 1 Georgia next Saturday in what promises to be a standout matchup of the regular season. Neither team played this weekend, but Georgia managed to hold its top position in the rankings despite strong performances from No. 2 Texas and No. 3 Ohio State, who both notched blowout wins.

Additionally, No. 18 Michigan and No. 21 Southern California both made moves in the rankings. The Wolverines jumped 11 spots after securing a close win over the Trojans with a late touchdown, finishing 27-24. Meanwhile, USC showed improvements in the second half, but their loss dropped them down by nine spots.

Making their debut in this week’s top 25 is No. 25 Brigham Young. After trailing 6-0 late in the first half against Kansas State, the Cougars exploded for 31 points in just about seven minutes of play connecting the second and third quarters. On the other hand, this loss caused Kansas State to tumble from No. 9 to No. 20.
