Police take down rally attendee after media area breach at Trump event
At a rally for former President Donald Trump in Pennsylvania on Friday, a man jumped over a barrier set up for the media and climbed onto a platform before being subdued and removed by police.
A video shared by a CBS reporter on X captures the moment at the Johnstown rally where several law enforcement officers pulled a man wearing sunglasses off the riser.
“Just now: a protester was thrown out after hopping the press fence and climbing onto the riser at Trump’s PA rally,” tweeted CBS reporter Taurean Small alongside the video.
Before the incident, Trump had referred to the media as an “enemy of the people.” However, the video does not clarify the man’s intentions or what he was shouting.
Trump’s rallies frequently include criticism of the press, with attendees often directing shouts and obscene gestures toward journalists at the back of the venue.
According to Johnstown police Chief Richard M. Pritchard, the individual was arrested and will face misdemeanor charges, including disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and disrupting a public assembly.
Security measures at such events have escalated following an incident last month, when Trump was struck in the face by an assailant during another rally in Pennsylvania.
