NFL playoff winners and losers: Mike Tomlin, Justin Herbert flop on wild-card Saturday The Saturday slots on the NFL wild-card schedule have long been seen as a dumping ground for the league's least tantalizing playoff products, and this year's doubleheader did little to challenge that notion. Tesla Issues Recall for Over 230,000 Vehicles Due to Rearview Camera Issues

Over 230,000 Tesla Vehicles Recalled Due to Rearview Camera Issues

More than 230,000 Tesla vehicles have been recalled because of an issue concerning the rearview cameras in specific models, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The NHTSA announced the recall on Monday, explaining that a shortage of computer circuit boards is causing the rearview cameras in these Tesla models to fail in displaying images. This malfunction could lead to an increased risk of accidents.

Moreover, this situation renders the recalled Teslas non-compliant with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard’s requirements regarding “rear visibility,” according to the agency.

Tesla has not provided a comment to YSL News as of Friday regarding this issue.

Here’s a look at the details of the recall, such as which models are affected and how owners can address the problem.

Which Tesla Models are Affected by the Recall?

The recall covers a total of 239,382 Tesla vehicles, including:

  • Model 3 (2024-2025)
  • Model S (2024-2025)
  • Model X (2023-2025)
  • Model Y (2023-2025)

How Can Tesla Owners Resolve the Rearview Camera Issue?

Tesla owners can resolve the rearview camera problem by applying a free software update available over-the-air, as stated by the safety administration.

Additionally, Tesla will replace the computers of any vehicles that may have faced a circuit board failure or might be at risk of such a failure at no extra cost, according to the federal agency.

Notification letters for owners are set to be sent out on March 7.

Federal Investigation on 2.5 Million Tesla Vehicles Regarding Self-Driving Feature

This week, the safety administration also revealed that it is investigating 2.5 million Teslas due to reports linking several crashes with the vehicles’ remote Smart Summon or Actually Smart Summon functions.

These features allow users to remotely relocate the vehicle to themselves or another designated area via a phone app, as per the agency.

After preliminarily assessing the feature, the agency will determine whether to escalate the investigation to an engineering analysis before considering a recall, according to Reuters.

Check If Your Vehicle is Subject to Recall

Wondering if your vehicle has been recalled? If it’s not included in the list above, vehicle owners can  look through the NHTSA’s database for fresh recalls. The NHTSA’s website permits searches for recalls using the vehicle identification number (VIN).
