Tesla announces sixth Cybertruck recall of the year, impacting over 2,400 vehicles
Tesla has recalled more than 2,400 Cybertrucks due to a part malfunction that can lead to a loss of power at the wheels. This marks the sixth recall for this flagship model in 2024, which is promoted by CEO Elon Musk.
The recall notice, released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on November 5, affects Cybertrucks manufactured between November 6, 2023, and July 30, 2024. Tesla has stated that it has no knowledge of any accidents, injuries, or fatalities linked to the recalled vehicles.
In October, Tesla previously recalled over 27,000 trucks due to rearview camera failures. Furthermore, the company made two recalls in June to address problems with faulty windshield wipers and loose trunk bed trim. Earlier in April, a recall was initiated regarding a malfunctioning accelerator pad.
Details on the Cybertruck recall
This recall affects Cybertrucks that contain metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors in their drive inverters, as indicated by Tesla’s announcement.
If the inverter malfunctions, drivers might find the accelerator pedal unresponsive, preventing the vehicle from moving. When this problem occurs, Tesla has stated that a warning will appear on the car’s display.
Tesla plans to replace the defective part in the affected Cybertrucks free of charge.
How to confirm if your vehicle is recalled
If you want to check if your vehicle has been recalled, owners can search the NHTSA’s database for updates. These websites allow users to query recall information using their vehicle identification number (VIN).
