In this season of “The Challenge,” 40 veterans from previous seasons return for an ultimate showdown, featuring Johnny ‘Bananas’ Devenanzio. MTV promises intense challenges and unexpected twists.

Returning for its 40th season, one of the longest-running reality competition series is here, showcasing some of the most intense rivalries ever.

 

“The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras” is premiering this week with a lineup of well-known competitors. As the title suggests, 40 seasoned players from past seasons will be taking on challenging new tasks for a significant cash prize, making this season a long-awaited clash since the show debuted in 1998.

Hosted by TJ Lavin, the season will feature legends such as Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio and Cara Maria Sorbello making a comeback.

Contestants will represent different “eras” from “The Challenge,” in what MTV calls “an epic showdown where legends intersect as they aim to cement their legacies.”

 

MTV states, “With new, relentless challenges and surprises, these experienced participants will be constantly challenged in the game they thought they knew inside out.”

They’ll be competing for a $1 million prize.

The premiere of “The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras” is set for 8 p.m. PT/ET on Wednesday, August 14, on MTV.

 

New episodes will follow every Wednesday at 8 p.m.

“This season of “The Challenge” is exclusive to MTV.

 

If you don’t have cable, you can watch via live streaming services such as Hulu with Live TV, Fubo TV, and Sling TV. After airing, episodes will also be available for streaming on the MTV website and app.

The previous two seasons of “The Challenge” can be found on Paramount Plus, though it is still unclear when Season 40 will become available on that platform.
