‘The Room Next Door’ earns Golden Lion for best film at Venice Film Festival
Pedro Almodóvar’s “The Room Next Door” captured the prestigious Golden Lion award on Saturday, marking the conclusion of the 2024 Venice Film Festival.
This film is Almodóvar’s first foray into English-language cinema and features Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton as lifelong friends who reconnect as one faces terminal cancer and contemplates ending her life.
Brady Corbet received the Silver Lion for best director for his post-war historical film “The Brutalist,” which stars Adrien Brody and Felicity Jones.
Nicole Kidman won the best actress award for her performance in “Babygirl,” but she was unable to attend the ceremony due to the sudden passing of her mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, who was 84 years old.
