The youthful and surprising Detroit Tigers are reveling in their success once more.

They shocked the Houston Astros on Wednesday afternoon with a comeback victory of 5-2, securing their place in the ALDS, which kicks off this Saturday in Cleveland.

This marks the latest chapter in the incredible journey of a young team that just took down the Astros, a franchise that had been to the ALCS for seven consecutive years.

The turning point came in the top of the eighth inning.

With the score tied at 2-2 and the bases loaded with two outs, Tigers manager A.J. Hinch called on Ibañez to face off against Astros’ excellent closer, Hader. Ibañez initially fought off three pitches.

Then, he struck a significant blow, hitting a double into the left field corner, bringing in all three runners and giving the Tigers a stunning 5-2 lead.

Sean Guenther pitched through the end of the seventh and the eighth innings.

Will Vest earned the save, particularly thanks to Parker Meadows, who made an impressive catch in the ninth inning.
