NFL Rumors: Mike Williams a Target for Multiple Teams

Several wide receivers including Davante Adams, Amari Cooper, DeAndre Hopkins, and Diontae Johnson were traded before the NFL’s November 5th trade deadline – and more could be on the move before it expires.

New York Jets wide receiver Mike Williams is a hot name drawing interest from teams looking to bolster their receiving corps, according to YSL News Sports.

A source familiar with the situation, who spoke anonymously due to the sensitivity of the matter, believes Williams is one of the top wide receivers still available in trade. The Jets are thought to be amenable to trading him after acquiring Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders back in October.

Williams is experiencing a quiet first season in New York. He’s caught only 12 passes for 166 yards in nine games, ranking sixth on the team in both categories.

The Jets could choose to keep Williams, especially with wide receiver Allen Lazard placed on injured reserve earlier this week with a chest injury. In the Jets’ Thursday night game against the Houston Texans, Williams played 41 total snaps, the third most among Jets receivers behind Garrett Wilson (57) and Adams (45), but he only caught one pass for six yards.

Both the Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Chargers are rumored to be among the teams looking for a wide receiver. ESPN reported that Pittsburgh pursued WR Christian Kirk before he suffered a season-ending collarbone injury in Week 8. Pittsburgh currently ranks 25th in the NFL in passing, while Los Angeles is 24th. The results of games this week could influence whether more teams become buyers or sellers before the 4 p.m. ET deadline on November 5th.

One wide receiver unlikely to be on the move is Bengals wideout Tee Higgins.

New York signed Williams after the Chargers released him in March. Williams notched 309 receptions, 4,806 receiving yards, and 31 touchdowns in seven seasons with the Chargers.
