BabyCenter reveals the top baby names for 2024: Discover the popular choices
According to recent findings from BabyCenter, the leading names for boys in 2024 include Noah, Liam, and Oliver, while for girls, the top choices are Olivia, Amelia, and Emma.
Noah topped the list for boys, followed by Liam and Oliver. For girls, Olivia was the favorite, trailed by Amelia and Emma. The report also highlighted a growing trend for boy names starting with “E” and girl names that end in “-lee” or “-lyn”.
A noteworthy newcomer is Emrys, which entered BabyCenter’s list of the top 1,000 boys’ names at position 954. Other “E” names like Emir, Enrique, Edgar, and Eliel gained popularity, while Easton and Everett made their return to the Top 100 at No. 92 and No. 93, respectively.
The list for girls showcased fresh names such as Evelyn, Brooklyn, and Madelyn, alongside rising names like Adalee, Avalynn, Lakelyn, Rosalee, and Maelynn, which have climbed several hundred spots to appear in the top 1,000 U.S. girl names for the first time.
Top Baby Names for 2024
BabyCenter noted that the top 10 names for boys and girls in 2024 are mostly similar to those in 2023, with a few adjustments. The top seven boy names remain unchanged, but Ezra climbed to No. 8, Asher moved up two spots to No. 9, Leo slipped two ranks to No. 10, and Luca fell off the list.
For girls, Amelia and Emma swapped rankings, with Amelia now at No. 3 and Emma at No. 4. Sophia and Charlotte retained their positions at No. 4 and No. 5, while Isabella (No. 6) and Ava (No. 7) exchanged spots. Mia is ranked No. 8, and Ellie made the most significant leap from No. 15 to No. 9. Finally, Luna dropped to No. 10.
