Embrace Social Media Mindfully: Strategies to Alleviate Online Anxiety

Young people's mental health may depend on how they use social media, rather than how much time they spend using it. Psychology researchers tried an experiment with three groups. Noah Lyles, Olympic Gold Medalist, Outsprints Streamer IShowSpeed in 50m Race

Noah Lyles, who holds the title of the fastest man in the world, showcased his skills by racing against a popular streamer.

The gold medalist from the men’s 100-meter race at the 2024 Paris Olympics competed in a 50-meter sprint against streamer IShowSpeed, organized by fellow creator Mr. Beast, with a $100,000 prize at stake.

The outcome was in line with expectations. Although IShowSpeed put up a good fight, Lyles took an early lead and added a bit of flair by leaping across the finish line. IShowSpeed insisted he had won, but Lyles disagreed. Upon reviewing the footage, some uncertainty remained, with Lyles acknowledging that he had glanced back at IShowSpeed before jumping.

IShowSpeed argued that had the race been 40 meters, he would have come out on top, even daring Lyles to a rematch. Lyles declined the rematch but recognized that the streamer has potential.

“You should train with me, and by the end of the week, we can have another race,” Lyles suggested to IShowSpeed. “You’ll get faster, learn the techniques, and have the upper hand. Then we can race for real, the 100 meters.”

IShowSpeed mentioned that he had never participated in track races before, suggesting he had more “raw speed” than Lyles. However, Lyles countered that he hadn’t reached his maximum speed, and IShowSpeed agreed he hadn’t either.

“You slowed down with 30 meters remaining,” Lyles teased IShowSpeed, adding, “I was watching you because I had that time, you know?”

Lyles decided to donate his $100,000 winnings to charity.
