The body of a missing Oregon bride has been found; her neighbor is charged with murder
Authorities in Oregon have discovered the body of a newlywed woman who disappeared last week and have arrested her neighbor in connection with her case.
The Beaverton Police Department reported that Melissa Jubane was reported missing on Wednesday, September 4, after police searched her apartment and could not locate her.
Her apartment is situated in Beaverton, roughly 8 miles from Portland.
The police were called for a wellness check at Jubane’s home because she failed to show up for her shift at St. Vincent Hospital that morning.
“When officers arrived, they were assisted by staff from the apartment complex and conducted a search of Melissa’s apartment,” the police stated. “Melissa was missing, and her sudden absence without any communication raised significant concerns.”
Law enforcement indicated that Jubane’s phone was turned off, preventing detectives and her family from getting in touch with her. There were no new leads from her bank activities as well.
Family reveals Jubane married in August
Following the investigation, her neighbor, 27-year-old Bryce Johnathan Schubert, was arrested and is now facing murder charges.
While Jubane’s body has been found, authorities are not disclosing the location to maintain the integrity of the investigation.
“We are incredibly grateful to all community members who have helped in the search for Melissa,” the department expressed. “Our sincerest condolences go out to Melissa’s family, friends, and colleagues.”
As reported by KHON2, Jubane and her husband, Bryan, recently celebrated their marriage in August, which took place at Waimea Valley, Hawaii.
“I miss her so much,” shared her mother-in-law, Imelda Llantero, with the outlet. “I’m grateful that Bryan found her, and I always told him to cherish her. They were truly happy together.”
