Travis and Jason Kelce Discuss Three-Peat, LeBron, and Racehorses on ‘New Heights’ Podcast

The wait during the long offseason is finally at an end, much to the delight of football enthusiasts.

While the NFL season officially kicks off tomorrow night, Jason and Travis Kelce launched a new season of their hit podcast “New Heights” on Wednesday morning.

With a new contract valued at roughly $100 million over three years with Amazon’s Wondery, the Kelce brothers were back to their trademark playful banter, incorporating ample NFL discussion for a total of 83 minutes ‒ with the first 13 minutes dedicated to sponsorship promotions and product mentions.

Once they delved into football topics, Travis Kelce shared insights into the Kansas City Chiefs’ strategy as they pursue an extraordinary third consecutive Super Bowl championship.

“Reaching the Super Bowl isn’t about aiming for the championship; it’s about building a consistent routine of success each week,” explained the four-time All-Pro tight end.

“We recognize that it’s a journey you must undertake. You can’t reach your peak too soon or get ahead of yourself assuming you’ll get there.”

As the defending Super Bowl champions, Kelce and the Chiefs are set to kick off the NFL season by hosting a primetime game against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night.

This matchup is a rematch of the previous year’s AFC championship, which the Chiefs won 17-10 in Baltimore.

Travis Kelce Receives Praise from LeBron James

During the podcast, the brothers discussed a recent interview featuring NBA star LeBron James, who named his top “Mount Rushmore” of NFL tight ends.

His first pick? Travis Kelce.

James also included Kellen Winslow, Shannon Sharpe, and Tony Gonzalez ‒ but then realized he had forgotten Rob Gronkowski, causing Gonzalez to make way on the list.

“I believe that the legends before me paved the way for my achievements,” reflected Travis.

Travis Kelce Showcases New Teammates

This season, the Chiefs have brought in some fresh talent, prompting Jason to inquire about a few of them.

  • On rookie WR Xavier Worthy: “He’s smart, he can assess situations and react quickly plus he’s got exceptional speed.”
  • On undrafted FB Carson Steele: “He’s more than just a fullback. He’s very athletic with the ball and a valuable asset on special teams. He’s a ‘whatever-you-need-me-to-do’ type of player.”
  • On veteran WR Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, who’s currently sidelined with a shoulder injury: “He’s thrilled about partnering with Pat Mahomes in this offense , He’ll bring a lot to the table once he’s back.”

Over the offseason, Kelce teamed up with friends from the Zoldan family, who own Phantom Fireworks, to purchase a significant share of a three-year-old gelding named Swift Delivery.

“Attending the (Kentucky) Derby this year was one of my best experiences,” he shared. “I got involved for the fun of it and to collaborate with a close friend.”

Notably, the horse shares its name with his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, which has drawn some playful comments.

Jason Kelce Reflects on the Philadelphia Eagles

After 13 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, Jason Kelce announced his retirement from the NFL in March.

Despite his retirement, he still stays closely connected to the Eagles.

“I think they have a bright future. I anticipate a strong comeback for Jalen Hurts this season,” he said, reflecting on a mostly successful 11-6 record last year, even though the team struggled towards the end, losing five of their final six games and bowing out in the first playoff round.

“Last year posed challenges, especially after losing key coordinators Shane Steichen and Jonathan Gannon. For reasons we may not fully understand, things didn’t click.” Kelce noted.

The Eagles will kick off their season in Brazil against the Green Bay Packers on Friday night.

This season, Jason will still indulge in football by serving as an analyst for ESPN’s Monday Night Football pregame show.
