Travis Kelce’s Future in Acting Shines Bright with Ryan Murphy’s ‘Grotesquerie’

Travis Kelce Could Be Headed for a Huge Acting Career After His Role in Ryan Murphy’s ‘Grotesquerie’

NEW YORK — Travis Kelce’s mother attended the premiere of her son’s first significant acting role, which many of his peers believe could launch a thriving Hollywood career.

The new FX horror series “Grotesquerie,” featuring Kelce in its cast, premiered on Monday night in New York. Although the Kansas City Chiefs tight end was not present, his mother, Donna Kelce, joined the event, expressing her thoughts on why her son is well-prepared for an acting career in an interview with YSL News.

“He’s that kind of person who adapts to different environments and connects with people from various backgrounds,” she commented. “He has always been able to do that, and I believe he can draw from the numerous people he’s met throughout his life.”

The specifics of Kelce’s character have been kept under wraps in promotional materials, but this marks a significant advancement for the NFL player, who has previously hosted “Saturday Night Live” and made a brief appearance as himself in the Showtime comedy “Moonbase 8” (where his character met an early demise just 12 minutes into the show).

Niecy Nash, who plays a detective investigating a series of gruesome crimes in the show, shared her excitement with YSL News about Kelce joining the cast.

“The guys were totally starstruck; the girls were puzzled, wondering what was happening,” she remarked, adding that the guys immediately formed a bond with Kelce upon his arrival.

“He’s genuinely an incredible person, and I think audiences will be pleasantly surprised by his performance,” Nash noted.

Jon Robin Baitz, co-creator and executive producer of “Grotesquerie,” mentioned that it’s “inevitable” we’ll be seeing more of Kelce in acting roles, stating he has the makings of a “massive career as a true star.”

“He is prepared, knows his lines, and excels in front of the camera—all without prior experience,” Baitz shared with YSL News. “He’s charming and calm on camera, showing no signs of nervousness. He’s definitely a star.”

Courtney B. Vance, who portrays the husband of Nash’s character, also saw potential for Kelce’s future in acting, describing him as “kind and down-to-earth,” and “truly prepared” for the character’s demands. He emphasized that Kelce worked with an acting coach and got his chance when he expressed to Ryan Murphy a desire to pursue acting while being available for a brief period.

Micaela Diamond, who primarily has a theater background, mentioned she and Kelce bonded as novices on the set, describing him as “an incredible human being and actor” who was “fully engaged and capable of working under pressure.” Raven Goodwin, who plays Nash’s character’s daughter, agreed that the Chiefs star was “open and eager to work,” while Nicholas Chavez, portraying a priest, noted that Kelce approached his acting role like a professional football game.

“You can definitely see his professionalism as an athlete showing in his approach to this role—he’s exceptional at what he does, and he brings that same team spirit to the set,” Chavez commented. “He exudes confidence, and I was genuinely impressed with how he took on this role.”

Kelce already has upcoming acting assignments, including a role in “Happy Gilmore 2” and discussions for leading an action-comedy titled “Loose Cannons,” according to reports from Variety and Deadline.
