Trista Sutter from ‘The Bachelorette’ explains her husband’s mysterious posts
Rest easy, Bachelor fans: Trista and Ryan Sutter’s marriage is intact.
The original Bachelorette shared on Instagram Friday that she was filming “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test” in May, which explained her husband’s puzzling social media posts that had many fans worried.
In her Instagram post, she humorously asked if her husband’s posts indicated a divorce, mid-life crisis, or something darker, stating, “Was it a divorce/nervous breakdown/mid-life crisis/death/trial separation back in May?! Not unless that’s what you call Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, season 3!” She accompanied her caption with a trailer for the upcoming show scheduled to premiere in January. By joining the cast, Trista joins other Bachelor alumni like Nick Viall and Tyler Cameron.
This past May, Ryan sparked speculation among fans with vague messages about missing Trista. His first post on May 11 began with “Absence makes the heart grow fonder,” and ended with, “I miss her already.” The next day, he posted a Mother’s Day tribute expressing his sadness over her absence, which only added to the mystery.
On May 18, Ryan reassured fans that everything was alright, saying, “Trista is fine. We are fine. We’re great,” on his Instagram. He explained that Trista was on a personal journey and had the support of her family to pursue this opportunity, but that it made her temporarily unreachable.
Despite the background of her travels still being unclear, fans were anxious about their relationship. Trista’s recent update has eased those concerns.
The couple, who have been married for nearly twenty years, symbolize a rare relationship within Bachelor Nation, showcasing a lasting love story. They are the longest-tenured couple in the franchise’s history and are often seen as a testament to how the show can succeed, unlike most of its pairs who ultimately part ways.
Trista was the leading star of the first season of “The Bachelorette” in 2003, where she chose firefighter Ryan and later wed him in a televised ceremony that same year. Now, twenty seasons later, Trista has become a maternal figure in the franchise, with her love story setting the standard for many who have faced broken engagements and marriages.
Recently, the franchise welcomed another trailblazing bachelorette, Joan Vassos, after the conclusion of her season on “The Golden Bachelorette.” Vassos and her new fiancé Chock Chapple are set to follow in the footsteps of the inaugural bachelorette.
Meanwhile, Gerry Turner, the first “Golden Bachelor,” and his pick Theresa Nist have already split.
