Donald Trump Forms Transition Team with JD Vance and Sons
WASHINGTON – On Friday, Donald Trump’s presidential campaign revealed its “transition team,” reflecting confidence that the Republican candidate anticipates winning the November election, as well as fulfilling a legal requirement.
Linda McMahon, a former official from Trump’s administration, and businessman Howard Lutnick will serve as co-chairs of the “organization preparing for his second administration,” according to the Trump campaign.
Federal regulations mandate that leading presidential candidates establish transition teams ahead of elections to ensure adequate preparation for taking office. These teams also aim to facilitate a smooth transfer of power, although this proved challenging following the 2020 election due to Trump’s claims of election fraud and the events of January 6, 2021.
Vice President Kamala Harris, who is set to accept the Democratic nomination next week during the party’s convention, will also form a transition team.
The transition will be spearheaded by McMahon, who previously managed the Small Business Administration in Trump’s prior administration, alongside Lutnick, CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald; both have significantly contributed to Trump’s 2024 campaign.
Additionally, the team includes honorary co-chairs: Vice presidential nominee JD Vance and two of Trump’s sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump.
In a statement, Trump expressed, “I have complete faith that the Trump-Vance Administration will be prepared to govern efficiently from Day One.”
Trump indicated that his transition team will aim to implement an agenda featuring tax reductions, mass deportations of migrants, the expansion of the U.S. energy sector, and increasing the loyalty of government employees to the White House. He has also mentioned the possibility of using the Justice Department to target political rivals.
Harris and her team have stated that Trump seeks to establish a more authoritarian government as envisioned by the planners of “Project 2025.” They argue that a second Trump administration would fight to eliminate abortion rights and cut healthcare services.
In response to Trump’s press conference on Thursday, Harris campaign spokesperson James Singer asserted: “The American people cannot believe anything Donald Trump says.”
