Trump’s campaign launches Eras Tour-themed shirts. Swift fans dub this his ‘cease & desist era’.
Former President Donald Trump is marketing t-shirts that resemble the merchandise from Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.
Following Tuesday’s presidential debate, Swift, one of the biggest names in pop music, expressed her support for Trump’s rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, stating, “(Harris) defends the rights and causes I believe need a true champion,” while subtly critiquing Republican VP nominee JD Vance’s viral remarks about “childless cat ladies.”
The Trump campaign announced the new merchandise on Thursday, urging “Swifties for Trump” to purchase the “Trump Era shirt.”
This shirt features a black-and-white silhouette of Trump set against colorful tiles that include various images of him, notably his mugshot from when he was booked in Atlanta over allegations of attempting to steal the election.
The X account “Swifties for Trump” even speculated whether he created the shirts before or after the endorsement:
‘In your cease & desist era’: Swift fans react to the new Trump shirt
Numerous users on X responded to the campaign’s post, many tagging Swift and her publicist Tree Paine, suggesting that Trump could face legal action.
One user humorously commented, “In your cease & desist era.”
YSL News reached out to both Paine and the Trump campaign for comments.
The Harris campaign has now begun selling friendship bracelets, a popular item among Swift fans.
Trump shared AI-created images of Swift
This isn’t the first time Trump has engaged in an online spectacle related to Swift. In her endorsement, Swift noted that some AI-generated images inaccurately portrayed her as supporting his campaign. Trump posted these images before she spoke out about the 2024 election, even though she had backed President Joe Biden in 2020.
Swift addressed this situation in her Instagram post on Tuesday, saying, “I recently learned about AI images of ‘me’ that falsely indicated my endorsement of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. This raised concerns for me about AI and the risks of misinformation. It made me realize the importance of being clear about my actual voting intentions for this election.”
