Trump Turns Down Second Debate Offer with Kamala Harris on Fox News

Donald Trump turns down second debate invitation with Kamala Harris from Fox News

Former President Donald Trump has rejected an invitation to engage in more debates with Vice President Kamala Harris, turning down the chance to debate on Fox News.

The debate was proposed to take place in Pennsylvania on either October 24 or October 27, and would have been moderated by Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, according to Fox News.

“This is a chance for each candidate to present their final arguments,” said the executives at FOX News Media.

Later that day, Trump posted on Truth Social, repeating earlier claims that he would not have a rematch. He noted that the election cycle is too far along for any further debates, which typically occur in September and October.

YSL News contacted both campaigns for comments on Thursday.

Trump maintains stance against debates

Following the presidential debate in September, many commentators deemed Harris the victor after she provoked Trump into frustrated responses. The Harris campaign quickly sought a second debate with Trump.

Just days later, Trump confirmed on Truth Social that he would not attend a third debate.

Since this, the Democrats have put up billboards in Indiana and Pennsylvania branding Trump as “a chicken” for not participating in another debate.

Harris accepted another debate invitation from CNN for October 23, but Trump once again declined, stating at a rally that, “It’s just too late – voting has already begun.”

Some Republicans, including Sen. Lindsey Graham from South Carolina, have expressed their desire for Trump to agree to a second debate to shift attention from personal attacks to Harris’s policy proposals.

The vice-presidential debate that took place on October 1 featured Tim Walz and JD Vance, who maintained a surprisingly respectful exchange. According to YSL News correspondent Susan Page, this debate further tested the candidates at the top of the ticket. Vance articulated Trump’s messaging more clearly than Trump had in September, while Walz occasionally faltered in his delivery and found it challenging to hold Vance accountable.

Both presidential candidates declared their picks for running mates as the winners of the VP debate.
