Tucker Carlson’s Podcast Achieves Top Spot on Apple Podcasts Chart a Year After Fox News Departure
A year following his exit from Fox News, Tucker Carlson has reached the top of the Apple Podcasts charts, as announced by the tech giant on Tuesday.
The conservative personality’s podcast, titled “The Tucker Carlson Show,” has claimed the number one position on the list of new shows.
This year, Carlson’s podcast featured a variety of notable guests, including comedians Rob Schneider, Russell Brand, and Roseanne Barr, as well as significant political figures like Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. Vice President-elect JD Vance. Other guests included singer Kid Rock and Trump administration nominees Vivek Ramaswamy and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
The show presents itself as a “source of free speech and truthful journalism in a media world swamped by false information,” claiming that “the only way to stop the cycle of propaganda is to communicate the truth.”
“That’s our responsibility. Each day. Regardless of the circumstances,” the podcast’s description states.
Carlson was let go from Fox News in April 2023. The network’s top-rated anchor announced the split last spring, stating that they were “parting ways.”
Fox expressed gratitude to him for his contributions to the network as a host and previously as a contributor.
After taking over from Bill O’Reilly, who was dismissed in 2016 after settling sexual harassment allegations, Carlson became Fox’s leading figure. He was often in the headlines for his extreme right-wing coverage, which included airing footage from the January 6 Capitol riot to downplay its seriousness.
While Fox representatives did not clarify the reasons for his departure, it coincided with a significant $787.5 million settlement Fox reached with Dominion Voting Systems over a lawsuit. The suit alleged that Fox News carelessly promoted false electoral claims and conspiracy theories after the 2020 election, with Carlson’s disclosed messages playing a crucial role in the case.
Carlson attracted attention recently at a rally for Donald Trump in Georgia, ahead of the 2024 presidential election, where he made controversial remarks comparing Trump to a father delivering a punishment to his unruly teenage daughter, metaphorically representing the nation.
“He’s not spiteful. He cares for his children, misbehaving as they might be,” Carlson stated. “When dad arrives home, he says, ‘You’ve misbehaved. It’s time for a harsh reprimand.'”
