Tyra Banks has returned to grace the runway at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

The iconic supermodel made her long-awaited return to the fashion show on Tuesday night, nearly two decades after her retirement. She dazzled in a striking black bustier corset paired with a matching cape, resembling broken glass, along with shimmering leggings and stylish black heels. Banks wrapped up the show, which featured stars like Gigi Hadid and Adriana Lima, alongside performances by Cher and Tyla.

At 50 years old, Banks had not walked the runway since 2005.

In a September interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Banks described her return to modeling as an “out-of-body experience.”

“When I chose to retire, Victoria’s Secret had approached me with another contract,” she shared. “I felt I needed to focus on being a talk show host and wanted to be taken seriously for my words. Back then, I doubted I could be viewed as credible while still modeling.”

Now, however, she believes, “the world has changed so much that I can be both a businesswoman—running my ice cream company and speaking at prestigious institutions while also being a Victoria’s Secret model.”

She expressed her excitement about the added diversity in the Victoria’s Secret shows, saying, “I feel like I opened a door, and now it’s wide open, and I’m thrilled about it,” she noted in the interview.

Banks also hinted at possible future runway appearances, indicating that she would “evaluate everything after the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show to determine what I want to pursue next.”

This show also marked a significant comeback for Victoria’s Secret, bringing back its fashion show for the first time in six years.

The retailer announced the revival via an Instagram video in May, stating that they had “listened to your feedback” after a six-year break.

A spokesperson from Victoria’s Secret confirmed that the 2024 show “will offer exactly what our customers have been seeking — glamour, fashion, runway excitement, and entertainment — all presented through a modern lens that reflects our current identity.”

Previously, L Brands, the former parent company of Victoria’s Secret, had canceled the show in 2019, aiming to “evolve the marketing of Victoria’s Secret” as ratings declined and concerns around body positivity grew.

The fashion show featured renowned models including Bella and Gigi Hadid, Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Joan Smalls as they strutted their stuff on the runway.

Gigi Hadid made a stunning entrance in a pink outfit, showcasing short, slicked-back hair, while her silky, plunging one-piece and angel wings stole the spotlight.

Victoria’s Secret also featured an “all-women lineup” this year, with performances by Cher, Tyla, and Blackpink’s Lisa.
