Additional details have emerged regarding the incident involving Dolphins player Tyreek Hill, who was stopped by police on Sunday while heading to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, and subsequently handcuffed.
On Tuesday, the Miami-Dade Police Department announced the name of the officer who is under administrative leave following this event. In a message to YSL News Sports, the MDPD stated: “Officer Danny Torres, with 27 years of service, remains on administrative duties while the Internal Affairs investigation is still in progress.”
Hill received two citations: one for careless driving, with a “visual estimation” speed of 60 mph, and another for failing to wear a seatbelt. Both were documented by Ofc. M. Batista.
Footage released from an officer’s body camera on Monday shows Hill, 30, being forcibly pulled from his vehicle, taken to the ground, and handcuffed.
The MDPD has initiated an internal investigation following the incident and confirmed that an officer has been placed on administrative duties as a result.
