Why Is the Facebook App Logo Now Black? Some Users Say It Looks ‘Sinister’
Recently, Facebook users have encountered a strange change with the app on their devices.
A Reddit discussion titled “What’s wrong with the Facebook logo?” emerged on Thursday, highlighting how some users are seeing a blue lowercase “f” set against a black backdrop instead of the usual blue background with a white “f.”
Users who have enabled dark mode often report seeing the app’s icon with a white background displaying the blue “f.”
“The color has changed oddly with the latest version. I deleted and reinstalled the app twice, but it hasn’t resolved the issue. Any advice?” the initial post from the iOS subreddit asked.
Ilana Keller, a journalist at YSL News Network, noticed the black logo appeared after updating her Facebook app on her iPhone, which had also been updated to iOS 17.6.1. Notably, her phone wasn’t in dark mode.
People Are Curious About the Facebook App’s Color Change
YSL News has contacted Meta regarding the new color scheme observed in the app.
It’s worth noting that this change does not seem uniform; several reporters from YSL News continue to see the original color scheme on their app icons.
One user on X described the new logo as “not subtle, but rather annoying.” Others shared sentiments that it appears “sinister” or “evil.”
Some individuals speculated whether the alteration was due to a software update or if it might be a glitch.
