‘Survivor’ 47, Episode 9: Jeff Probst introduced a new shocking twist. Who got eliminated?
The latest episode of “Survivor” Season 47 brought yet another surprise twist, true to the show’s new era.
Season 47 of this iconic survival show, which has aired on CBS since 2000, features players living on a remote island, struggling with limited resources, while also competing in various challenges and forming alliances to eliminate others. The ultimate survivor earns the title of “sole Survivor” along with a prize of $1 million.
Here’s the update on who was voted out in “Survivor” Season 47, Episode 9.
Who was eliminated in ‘Survivor’ Season 47, Episode 9?
Before Probst unveiled the twist during the individual immunity challenge, contestants paired up. They faced a three-stage obstacle course, concluding with a challenging balancing act on tiny footholds elevated off the ground.
Unfortunately, the first four players eliminated from this challenge, Caroline Vidmar, Rachel LaMont, Andy Rueda, and Sam Phalen, lost their voting power and had to compete in a special “journey” to reclaim it. Gabe Ortis ultimately emerged victorious in the challenge, securing individual immunity.
During their journey, Vidmar, LaMont, Rueda, and Phalen worked together to build a house of cards, but the first to collapse their structure would forfeit their vote. Unfortunately for Vidmar, she was the one who toppled the cards, leaving her allies at camp in a difficult position as they were counting on her for a surprise elimination.
Seizing the opportunity, Genevieve Mushaluk gathered the remaining contestants to plan a blindside against Solomon “Sol” Yi. Despite some initial uncertainty among the group and at tribal council, a majority ultimately voted to eliminate Yi, who is a 43-year-old medical device salesman from Norwalk, Connecticut.
With this elimination, Yi becomes the second member of the jury, which will have a role in selecting the eventual winner of “Survivor” Season 47.
Who was voted out last week on ‘Survivor’?
Last week, Sam Phalen entered the individual immunity challenge without a vote since he had the most money left from the auction. Before the challenge began, Jeff Probst announced that one man and one woman would win immunity necklaces, leaving the other players exposed to elimination.
For the third consecutive episode, Kyle Ostwald secured victory for the men’s category, while Sue Smey, the oldest contestant this season, won for the women.
Contestants in various alliances went back and forth on their voting strategies, including former Gata tribe member Andy Rueda, who chose to side with the majority instead of sticking with Phalen and Sierra Wright.
During tribal council, Rachel LaMont, also from the former Gata tribe, played her shot in the dark, opting to forfeit her vote in hopes of gaining immunity, but she did not succeed. The voting ended in a tie between Phalen and Wright.
After a revote, the majority opted to eliminate Wright, making her the first member of the jury for Season 47, who will help determine the winner.
