Tyreek Hill’s Knee Injury: What We Know (and What Remains Unclear) About His Surgery Mentioned in Police Video
Tyreek Hill, a wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins, told police several times about a recent knee surgery while being held and restrained. He expressed that he would not be able to participate in the season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars due to significant discomfort.
Body camera footage released on Monday night captured Hill repeatedly stating he had just undergone knee surgery as officers forced him to sit down after pulling him from his car.
“What a coincidence. Did you just have surgery on your ears when we told you to put your window down?” one of the officers remarked to Hill.
While still in custody, Hill could be heard complaining about his pain.
“I’m not playing today, bruh, because that dude (expletive) my knee up,” Hill said. “He really tackled me on my knee on this damn cement, bruh.”
Details on Tyreek Hill’s Knee Injury
It remains unclear what specific type of knee surgery Hill underwent or its purpose. During the previous 2023 season, he missed one game due to an ankle injury.
During the Sunday incident, Hill requested multiple times to stand, citing tendonitis.

Did Tyreek Hill’s Knee Injury Affect His Performance?
Despite claiming he wouldn’t be able to play in Week 1, Hill still dressed for the Dolphins and did not have any injury designation before the start of the game.
If he was indeed in pain, it didn’t show during the game. Hill recorded seven receptions for 130 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown catch, showcasing his speed without any signs of slowing down.
