Apple iOS 18.3 is now available: Key features to explore.
The most recent update to Apple’s operating system, iOS 18.3, is now available for both iPhones and iPads. This rollout also includes iPadOS 18.3, featuring several minor enhancements, a significant shift in Apple Intelligence, and important security updates for iPhones.
The initial phase of Apple Intelligence features debuted in October, delivering Apple-designed generative models and enhancements to existing software. Additional features have been made available since December.
Here’s a look at some of the noteworthy features included in iOS 18.3 and iPadOS 18.3:
Enhanced Notification Summaries
In iOS and iPadOS 18.3, the AI-generated notification summaries have received a redesign for iPhone 15 and 16 models, as well as newer iPad models equipped with M1 chips or better.
These summary notifications will now appear in italic text, helping users to easily differentiate them from standard notifications. Additionally, users can adjust their notification summary settings directly from the Lock Screen.
Apple has also paused the feature for news and entertainment applications for the time being. Users who choose to participate in this feature will be notified once it is back up and running.
Apple Intelligence is Now Default
In previous updates, users needed to opt-in to access Apple Intelligence features. However, with the release of 18.3, these features will be enabled automatically for new users and those upgrading from earlier versions who may not have opted in before.
Visual Intelligence Enhancements
For iPhone 16 users, there are new capabilities added to Visual Intelligence utilizing the camera control button. Users can now create a calendar event from a poster, and Visual Intelligence can now recognize various plants and animals.
