The Daily Money: Evaluating the Cost of the American Dream
Good morning! This is Daniel de Visé bringing you your Daily Money update.
At the Republican National Convention in July, Donald Trump stated his intention to “restore the American Dream.” Similarly, at last week’s Democratic convention, Kamala Harris praised Americans “who work diligently (and) pursue their dreams.”
But how big should our financial dreams really be?
YSL News has analyzed the concept of the “dream” in economic terms on multiple occasions — including a recent report by Jim Sergent. According to a GoBankingRates study, achieving the American Dream now costs over $150,000 for a family of four, though the amount varies significantly by location.
Here’s the state-by-state breakdown.
Lowe’s Scales Back on Diversity Initiatives
Lowe’s, a home improvement retail giant, is stepping back from some of its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives after it was identified as a potential target for a campaign led by conservative activists against businesses that support DEI, reports Jessica Guynn.
The company’s adjustments include ceasing participation in surveys conducted by the Human Rights Campaign, an LGBTQ advocacy group. Furthermore, Lowe’s will merge its various employee resource groups for diverse employees into one collective organization.
According to an internal memo shared with YSL News, Lowe’s intends to refocus its efforts on safe and affordable housing, disaster relief, and education in skilled trades.

In a clever move, Pizza Hut is now introducing a free “Moving Box Table” in select cities, designed to help customers set up a quick and simple dining experience for a post-move pizza feast.
This “Moving Box Table” is a temporary offering. It’s a small cardboard table that allows customers to enjoy their pizza during the moving chaos without added hassle, reports Amaris Encinas.
Who knows, perhaps some families will hold onto the table as a keepsake from moving day.
