In their inaugural match as Big Ten rivals, Washington triumphed over Michigan, settling the score from last season’s defeat in the College Football Playoff national championship. The Huskies secured a 27-17 victory over the No. 10 Wolverines at Husky Stadium.

Huskies fans quickly took to the field to celebrate after this significant top-10 victory in Seattle.

Despite a comeback effort from Michigan and quarterback Jack Tuttle, who stepped in during the second quarter after Alex Orji was replaced, Washington managed to hold on. Tuttle led the Wolverines on a 17-0 scoring streak, but Washington responded with a dominant 13-0 fourth quarter, featuring crucial plays from safety Kamren Fabiculanan and a 32-yard field goal by kicker Grady Gross.

The Huskies’ surprise victory over No. 10 Michigan was part of a day of upsets in college football, with unranked teams like Vanderbilt and Minnesota also pulling off significant wins against No. 2 Alabama and No. 15 USC, respectively.

Looking ahead, Washington (4-2, 2-1 in Big Ten) will face Iowa at Kinnick Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 12 at noon ET. Meanwhile, Michigan (4-2, 2-1) will have a week off to reflect on their loss, as they are on bye during Week 7.
