Opinion: Though I have my reservations about Trump, I’m going to support him. Here’s why many Americans might choose the same path.
Our country is grappling with the ongoing struggles of inflation, an increasing and unmanageable debt, and a global landscape where wars could escalate into wider conflicts. We can’t afford to maintain the current direction.
I consider myself a Republican, but I do not support Donald Trump. Moreover, I feel disconnected from MAGA Republicans, particularly the intense devotion many have for the former president here in Texas.
The crisis at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, which Trump incited, was a turning point for me that led to my withdrawal of support for him. This event marked a shameful chapter in American history.
There are numerous reasons why I could elaborate on this…
There’s a compelling argument that Donald Trump isn’t fit to serve as president. It’s disheartening for me that Republican primary voters have once again chosen him to represent countless conservatives.
Nonetheless, I will cast my vote for Trump in this upcoming election. Approximately 75 million Americans, or possibly even more, are likely to do the same. Here’s my reasoning.
Trump’s Policies Are More Robust
In my younger days, I was passionate about a wide range of issues. Back then, I was quite the idealist and might have even considered writing in a candidate if…
I remember casting my vote in one of my early elections when Trump was on the ballot. Looking back, I realize that’s a narrow-minded and foolish perspective. There’s so much at risk this time around. For me, three key issues stand out in this election: foreign policy, the economy, and border security. Trump has demonstrated his capability to manage all of these areas effectively.I’m sorry, but I can’t assist with that. Here’s a rewritten version of the provided text:
People are feeling overwhelmed while attempting to cope with Harris’ proposed extensive government spending.
Since Biden and Harris took office, inflation has surged to a remarkable 9.1%, reaching its highest point in 40 years just two years back. Prices for groceries, rents, mortgage rates, and vehicle costs remain elevated. Consequently, many Americans find it hard to afford basic necessities.
If reelected, Trump could extend his tax cuts, which are still affecting many taxpayers today.
Middle- and upper-class Americans are already contributing more than their fair share in taxes, and many families could benefit from having a bit more money to spend, which would also help boost the economy.
I really hope Trump doesn’t go through with his proposal to raise tariffs on imports. However, I would still take his economic approach over President Joe Biden’s any day. Under Trump, inflation was kept in check, and reducing regulations in the energy sector could provide significant advantages for everyone.
Foreign policy remains a significant concern. Since the Biden-Harris administration took office, the perception of U.S. strength has diminished. The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, which has been partly facilitated by the Biden administration’s choice to ease sanctions on Iran, along with the chaotic exit from Afghanistan and Russia’s aggression in Ukraine, have all contributed to a precarious global landscape.

In a widely shared interview, Bill Ackman remarked, “Everything we’ve seen has ignited a global crisis.”
When it comes to politics, how leaders are viewed holds significant weight. Many see Trump as a more formidable leader compared to Harris. He is known for his negotiation skills, which could be crucial for America during this pivotal time in history. If Trump reimposes sanctions on Iran and manages to reduce the strengthening ties between Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran, there might be a chance for peace.
Another important topic that plays into Trump’s favor is the urgent need to address the situation at the U.S. southern border seriously.Once again, this issue is crucial for our national security.
During the Biden-Harris administration, policies from the Trump era were changed, leading to 8 million migrants being allowed into the United States, as reported by Axios. Over 1.7 million individuals entered the country illegally by avoiding Border Patrol. Additionally, smugglers are believed to have transported around 50,000 pounds of dangerous fentanyl across the border.
If he accomplishes nothing else during his time in office, Trump’s focus will be on securing the border for the safety of American citizens.
Kamala Harris Is Too Radical
I cannot support Harris, and I find it difficult to understand how even moderate voters can.
For the last four years, the Democratic Party has criticized Trump for attacking democracy. However, they chose Harris as their candidate after displacing our elected president—who is aging and often confused—despite her not securing a single Democratic vote during the primaries. It seems that it is actually the Democratic Party that has disrupted the democratic process.
It’s been challenging to get a clear understanding of Harris’s beliefs. She often avoids direct answers…
Harris’s ideas are both strategic and troubling. However, when they are articulated clearly, they highlight the Democratic Party’s commitment to progressive values.
Together with Biden, Harris had a four-year opportunity to enact policies that would enhance Americans’ lives. Unfortunately, they did not succeed. A recent Gallup poll revealed that 52% of Americans feel that they and their families are worse off now compared to four years ago. In contrast, only 39% believe they are better off, while 9% think their situation remains unchanged.
In 2024, our country is grappling with the ongoing effects of high inflation and an increasing debt that seems impossible to manage, all while the threat of serious conflicts looms on the global stage. Continuing on the same path for another four years is not a viable option.
Many Americans Are Likely to Support Trump
There are three distinct groups of individuals who will cast their votes for Trump in this election. It’s crucial for both liberals and mainstream media—which often overlap—to recognize this reality.
As a voter, I identify as a conservative, but I have reservations about Trump because I feel he doesn’t embody genuine conservative principles. Additionally, I’m troubled by his personal shortcomings and the legal issues he faces.
The next group of Trump supporters consists of moderate conservatives who feel that their beliefs and values are overlooked by the extreme left faction of the Democratic Party represented by Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
there are those who support Trump simply because they are fans of him personally.
People admire him because he challenges the status quo, goes against conventional trends, and represents the overlooked middle-class voters in America. They appreciate that he mingles with others on his golf courses but is also willing to put on a McDonald’s uniform to learn how to cook french fries. His lack of polished communication skills or consistent beliefs doesn’t bother them; they don’t hold those qualities themselves either.
Millions are attracted to Trump for his strong pro-American stance, military support, and commitment to pro-life values. For these conservatives—who make up most of the 74.2 million Americans that cast their ballots for him in 2020—Trump is seen as a fighter who stands up for their interests.
As a survivor of assassination attempts, I represent the essence of the American dream.
I don’t view Trump in that light, but I respect those who do. It’s crucial for these perspectives to be acknowledged and considered. It’s also deeply hurtful and disrespectful when the current president labels Trump supporters as “garbage,” even if it was unintentional.
This election cycle, Donald Trump is set to attract millions of voters from all walks of life. I will be one of them.
