Trump ally opposes military suggestion for election security
Rep. Byron Donalds, a Republican from Florida, expressed disagreement on Monday regarding former President Trump’s proposal to use the U.S. military domestically for election security.
“This has been a longstanding principle in our nation since its inception,” Donalds stated during an interview with CNN’s Kasie Hunt.
This strong ally of Trump diverged from the nominee’s comments made on Fox News, where Trump suggested calling in the military “if really necessary” to confront “radical-left lunatics” and “the enemy from within.”

Harris critiques Trump’s town hall antics
A video showing Donald Trump enjoying a music playlist featuring artists from Luciano Pavarotti to the Village People for almost 40 minutes raised further concerns on Tuesday regarding the former president’s mental condition.
“Hope he’s alright,” replied Kamala Harris, Trump’s rival, on social media platform X.
Trump, who had to interrupt a town hall event and initiated a musical segment after two medical emergencies occurred, labeled the spontaneous concert as a triumph.
Regarding the medical incidents during the event, Trump commented on his Truth Social platform: “We started playing music while we waited, and just kept it going. It was unusual, but it turned out to be a GREAT EVENING!”

Georgia judge mandates counties to certify November elections
A local judge in Georgia has ruled that election officials are required to certify the results of the upcoming November elections.
Judge Robert C. I. McBurney addressed claims from Julie Adams, a Republican member of the Atlanta Fulton County election board, who argued she should possess the authority to decide on the certification based on her oath to guard against fraud.
Judge McBurney asserted that if officials like Adams were allowed to act as “investigator, prosecutor, jury, and judge,” it would effectively silence Georgia voters. He noted that Adams could report any fraud concerns to a prosecutor instead.
This ruling is significant, especially in light of increasing worries that local officials may attempt to create uncertainty this November by failing to meet the state’s certification deadline of November 12 – just one week after the election.
The lawyers representing Adams did not immediately respond to a request for clarification.

DOJ files lawsuit against Virginia for pre-election voter roll removals
A conflict over the process of preventing noncitizens from voting on November 5 has emerged in Virginia, where the U.S. Justice Department claims the state is unjustifiably canceling registrations too close to the election, while Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin maintains this policy has been in place for 18 years.
The Justice Department filed a lawsuit against Virginia on Friday, contending that removing voters from registration lists within 90 days of the election—termed a “quiet period”—violates a federal voting statute from 1993.
Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke, who oversees the civil rights division, stated that this policy “endangers qualified voters of being dropped from the rolls and causes potential confusion for voters.”
A state law enacted in 2006 mandates the removal of any voter who indicated they were not a citizen when completing their motor vehicle records and then either unintentionally or intentionally registered to vote.
“This is an unprecedented situation, and I am committed to my responsibility to maintain fair, secure, and precise elections in Virginia—without exception,” Youngkin stated in a message on X.
Research conducted by the Brennan Center for Justice and the libertarian Cato Institute indicates there has been no significant fraud involving noncitizens casting votes. Nonetheless, Republicans have rallied around the issue of preventing noncitizen voting in this contested election.
