Get ready, as “Bluey” is making its big-screen debut!

The Walt Disney Company revealed on Tuesday that they are collaborating with BBC Studios to create a film based on the beloved blue heeler puppy, Bluey, and her little sister, Bingo. The movie is set to be released in 2027 and will continue the stories of this animated Australian dog family. Originally, “Bluey” debuted in Australia before gaining popularity on Disney+.

According to Nielsen data, “Bluey” was the top kids’ show in 2023 and 2024 across various platforms. Joe Brumm, the creator of “Bluey,” will be writing and directing the film, which aims to “carry on the adventures” of the lovable duo, Bluey and Bingo.

“I’ve always believed that ‘Bluey’ deserved a movie in theaters. I’d like this to be a memorable experience for families to enjoy together,” Brumm stated in a press release from Disney.

The Emmy and Peabody Award-winning series “Bluey,” which is accessible in over 140 nations, is recognized as the most-viewed global series this year on Disney+, the service’s primary streaming platform.

This past April, a special titled “The Sign” was released, which Brumm mentioned has given him inspiration for the upcoming movie as he enjoyed working with a longer format. “Expanding upon that idea to create a feature film feels like a natural progression,” he explained.

The episode’s title is based on the “For Sale” sign outside the Heeler household, which left many adult viewers worried that the family might face a major change due to the father Bandit’s new job. Bluey is upset about the potential move, as is her mother, Chilli, despite her attempts to remain supportive.

The impending move serves as a backdrop for much of the episode, which is primarily centered around a wedding celebration for Bandit’s brother Radley and his partner Frisky.
