Former CNN anchor Don Lemon has refuted claims that he spread the rumor stating that Ye and his wife, Bianca Censori, were removed from the 67th Annual Grammy Awards following her nearly naked outfit at the ceremony.

Ye, previously known as Kanye West, accused Lemon of propagating the story that he and Censori were expelled from the Grammys in a now-deleted Instagram message on Monday.

“This is the fool who started the rumor that my wife and I were kicked out of the Grammys (sic),” the post stated, including a derogatory term aimed at Lemon.

Lemon had previously shared a post on social media that hinted Ye was thrown out of the ceremony but also mentioned he was “unsure” about the truth of the assertion.

In response to Ye’s allegations, Lemon released a video on Monday to his YouTube channel, stating, “First off, Kanye, Yee, Ye, however you prefer to be called — I did not initiate a rumor about you being removed from the Grammys. In fact, I corrected it.”

“I noticed someone from your team asked me to clarify it because it was being reported everywhere,” Lemon added. “So, first of all, get your facts straight.”

What started the conflict between Don Lemon and Ye?

The tension between Ye and Lemon sparked ahead of the awards show on Sunday, when Censori graced the red carpet and took off her black fur coat to showcase a sheer mini dress.

Lemon posted an Instagram update about the 30-year-old Australian model’s outfit, stating, “I’ve heard that Kanye wanted to walk the red carpet but was not invited — that’s what the people here at the Grammys are saying. Then he left, maybe he was escorted out.”

“That’s what people say, but I can’t say for sure,” Lemon added. “I think he simply wanted to participate in the red carpet event, but he has definitely left.”

Prior to this, Lemon shared a clip on Instagram where he asks Ye, “Who is the top artist you want to promote right now?” Ye replies, “Hang on, I’m focused,” then continues down the red carpet with Censori.

Was Ye actually kicked out of the Grammys?

Various media sources, including E! News and Us Weekly, reported that Ye and Censori exited the event voluntarily after taking photos, which supports Ye’s now-deleted Instagram assertion that he was not thrown out.

Ye, who hadn’t attended the Grammys since 2015, was in contention for the best rap song category with his track “Carnival,” featured on his album “Vultures 1.” He ultimately lost the award to Kendrick Lamar’s well-known song “Not Like Us.”
