American Airlines Flight Makes U-Turn Due to Potential Mechanical Problem

American Airlines flight makes emergency return to Chicago over suspected mechanical trouble

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is looking into an incident involving an American Airlines flight that left Chicago but had to come back due to a reported electrical problem from the crew.

The FAA stated that the Boeing 737-800 aircraft, which was en route to Las Vegas, returned to Chicago O’Hare International Airport shortly before 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.

An American Airlines representative informed YSL News that the plane was inspected, and passengers were placed on a different flight.

“An indicator light suggested a possible mechanical problem, but inspections later showed it was a false alarm,” said a spokesperson. “The flight landed safely, and the travelers later took off for LAS on a substitute aircraft.”

In response to YSL News, an American Airlines spokesperson said the flight crew requested a right turn during their ascent out of Honolulu and were granted permission.
