Kari Lake Takes the Reins at Voice of America: The Rise of Trump’s MAGA Messaging Machine

With Kari Lake as Voice of America head, Trump now has his MAGA propaganda arm | Opinion

Having Kari Lake lead this institution is simply absurd. It’s like placing well, you guessed it, Kari Lake in charge of VOA.

The idea of objective reality seems to be fading in America. President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Kari Lake, known for her falsehoods and extreme loyalty, as the new head of Voice of America (VOA), which is the country’s oldest and largest international broadcaster.

Lake gained notoriety for her record-breaking losses in the 2022 Arizona gubernatorial race. After her defeat, she claimed, without any proof, that the election was rigged, and she kept appealing her loss at every level, only to lose repeatedly. It seems she may still be fighting that election or attempting to lose the 2024 U.S. Senate race she just lost but hasn’t officially given up on.

Which raises the question: How will she manage to find time and the fabrications needed to transform VOA into a propaganda outfit for the Trump administration?

Kari Lake leading VOA? She embodies the opposite of impartial journalism.

According to its federal charter, “VOA news will be accurate, objective, and comprehensive.”

What a joke! That statement can be promptly discarded. The first time Lake displays accuracy or objectivity will be a first for her; appointing her as head of VOA is just as nonsensical as well, you know where this is going.

Yet this is precisely what Trump and his loyal supporters desire. By legitimizing Trump as a viable presidential candidate, they have discarded any belief in truth and opted instead for a culture of brutal dishonesty. Once they take full control of the government in January, they will need a platform—perhaps a TRUMPet?—to broadcast their narrative that “Everything we do is flawless!”

Lake is the ideal candidate to be that TRUMPet.

When she’s not busy flattering Trump, she’s been repeating his absurd claims and fabricating stories about election fraud. Her gubernatorial campaign was filled with claims like “Trump actually won!” and she has insisted that President Joe Biden didn’t receive the votes he legitimately earned. Furthermore, she has spread wild election conspiracy theories, dubbed herself “the lawful governor” of Arizona in a 2023 publication, and even suggested jailing journalists.

VOA was established to combat propaganda. Now it serves as MAGA’s mouthpiece.

And unbelievably, Trump wants her to oversee journalists at a prestigious news organization formed in 1942 specifically to counter wait for it, Nazi propaganda.

Can you believe that?

Envision the pro-Trump narratives VOA will likely amplify now

What should we anticipate from a Lake-led VOA when Trump inevitably missteps? Perhaps a headline like: “Great Leader Trump unfairly criticized by media foes for his brilliant decision!”

Or maybe: “Fearless Donald Trump impresses the globe with decisions only he comprehends.”

Let’s be honest; Trump could insult Lake, and her response would be to commend his marksmanship and celebrate his powerful spit! He possesses the saliva of a man far younger!

Kari Lake and integrity are worlds apart

Lake previously worked as a news anchor in Arizona before shifting to a lackluster political career. Yet, like many in Trump’s circle—Trump himself included—she has managed to succeed despite her failures.

Now, alarmingly, this sycophantic, untruthful figure will represent America.

To be clear, she represents Trump, not me.
