The era of “Bennifer 2.0” has officially ended.

According to documents accessed by YSL News, Jennifer Lopez, aged 55, has completed her divorce from Ben Affleck, 52. She filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court on August 20, which marked the second anniversary of their wedding ceremony in Georgia.

The couple has stated that their separation date is April 26, and they cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their marriage ending. Lopez has opted to return to her legal name, Jennifer Lynn Lopez, having previously taken Affleck’s last name.

Neither Lopez nor Affleck hired independent attorneys for their divorce; instead, they used a single law firm as a mediator. The specifics regarding the couple’s assets are currently “unknown” but “will be determined,” as per one of the filings, and neither will receive spousal support.

YSL News has contacted representatives for both Affleck and Lopez for their statements.

This marks Affleck’s second marriage and Lopez’s fourth. They had been engaged twice: first in 2002 and then again in 2022.

The two connected while filming the romantic comedy “Gigli” back in 2002, when Lopez was still married to her second husband, Cris Judd. They later called off their engagement, attributing it to overwhelming media attention, and they both went on to have separate relationships before reigniting their love story two decades later.

In April 2022, Lopez announced that she and Affleck were engaged once more. Shortly after, she shared the news that they had tied the knot during a late-night Las Vegas ceremony on July 16, 2022. A month later, they held a more lavish wedding ceremony on Affleck’s estate near Savannah, Georgia.

Speculations about JLo and Ben’s split began last summer

Lopez’s divorce filing followed months of speculation from fans and the media, which intensified when the couple started making solo public appearances.

At the Met Gala on May 6 in New York City, Affleck was notably absent while Lopez fulfilled her role as one of the event’s co-chairs. The night before, Affleck had participated in a Netflix roast event for Tom Brady in Los Angeles, and Lopez did not attend.

During this period, Lopez was reportedly engaged in filming “Kiss of the Spider Woman” in New Jersey, while Affleck was in Los Angeles working on “The Accountant 2.”

On May 16, the couple was photographed together for the first time in more than a month, both wearing their wedding rings. Since then, they’ve been seen together a few more times, though reports indicate they are no longer living under the same roof.
