Paris Hilton ‘devastated’ as she watches Malibu home engulfed in flames ‘live on television’
Paris Hilton has disclosed that her family’s residence fell victim to the wildfires raging in Los Angeles.
In a heartfelt message posted on X on Wednesday, the media icon expressed her “heartbreak beyond words” regarding the destruction of her home. “Watching our Malibu house burn to the ground on live news while sitting with my family is an experience that should never happen to anyone,” Hilton shared.
Hilton, who is wed to entrepreneur Carter Reum, has two children with him: a son named Phoenix, aged 1, and a daughter named London, also 1.
“Our home was filled with so many special moments,” Hilton reminisced. “It’s where Phoenix took his first steps and where we envisioned creating a lifetime of memories with London.”
Since Tuesday, fierce Santa Ana winds have fueled multiple wildfires across Los Angeles County, resulting in at least five fatalities and causing extensive damage to homes. Although winds were forecasted to calm overnight Wednesday, officials cautioned that the danger would still be severe at least until Thursday.
The Eaton Fire, which started around 30 miles from the coast in Altadena near Pasadena, rapidly expanded to cover over 16 square miles, or 10,600 acres. The Pacific Palisades Fire devastated structures and spanned 15,832 acres along the beachfront areas between Santa Monica and Malibu. A third fire, known as the Hurst Fire, ignited in Sylmar in the San Fernando Valley, burning at least 500 acres and prompting the evacuation of nearby residents.
As a result of these wildfires, more than 100,000 residents have been ordered to evacuate.
“Even though the loss is immense, I feel thankful that my family is safe,” Hilton conveyed. “My heart and thoughts are with all families impacted by these fires, especially those who have lost their homes, their cherished memories, and their beloved pets.”
“I deeply empathize with those still in danger or grieving even greater losses. The level of destruction is beyond comprehension. Knowing that many are waking up today without the place they called home is truly heartbreaking.💔”
Hilton is not the only celebrity affected by the ferocious wildfires. Other stars such as James Woods and Cameron Mathison, along with reality TV personalities Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, and songwriter Diane Warren also lost their homes to the fires.
The intense conditions have also caused disruptions in Hollywood, leading to the postponement of the forthcoming Critics’ Choice Awards and the cancellation of several film premieres.
In her closing remarks, Hilton expressed her gratitude to “the courageous firefighters and first responders who are risking their lives to protect us,” stating, “I am incredibly thankful for your bravery, commitment, and the sacrifices you make in this unimaginable situation.”
“Let’s take care of one another and hold onto the hope that these fires will be controlled soon.🙏 We’re all in this together, LA.✨ Hold your loved ones a bit closer tonight; you never know when everything can change. 🥺”
