Airbnb Provides Temporary Accommodation for Those Affected by Southern California Wildfires
On Wednesday, Airbnb announced its initiative to provide complimentary temporary housing for residents affected by the recent Los Angeles wildfires.
Through Airbnb.org, its nonprofit division, the company is collaborating with 211 LA—a nonprofit organization that supports Los Angeles County by offering various resources, including food aid and shelter—to “offer free, temporary housing for individuals displaced due to the Los Angeles wildfires.”
In its announcement, Airbnb expressed that its efforts specifically target residents who have either lost their residences or been compelled to evacuate in areas such as Altadena, Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Pasadena, Santa Monica, and Sylmar.
Founded in 2019, Airbnb.org has facilitated over 1.6 million nights of emergency accommodations for more than 250,000 individuals since 2020, according to the organization. Last year, Airbnb.org collaborated with local groups to provide temporary housing for those affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
