James Woods announces his house is ‘still intact’ after LA wildfires: ‘A miracle’

James Woods reports that his home has unexpectedly survived the devastating Pacific Palisades fire.

The Oscar-nominated actor had feared that his property was lost along with thousands of others in the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles.

But he expressed, “A miracle has occurred. We reached our property, and the home we thought was gone is still here,” he posted on X on Friday. “In this dire situation, ‘standing’ is a flexible term, but the smoke damage is nothing compared to the total devastation around us.”

The 77-year-old actor shared a video from his deck, where he emotionally recounted the many structures that were lost from the nearby hillside, including those belonging to his neighbors.

Previously, Woods had expressed uncertainty on X, stating, “I can’t confirm if our house survived, but unfortunately, several homes on our street did not.”

In an interview with Pamela Brown on CNN, Woods recounted the gripping details of his family’s evacuation, explaining they were “right at the center of the fire’s start” and had to leave with “just the clothes on our backs.”

“It was complete chaos; it was like being in a massive inferno,” he described to CNN. “Every house around us was ablaze.”

Woods became emotional during the interview, highlighting that he had only just moved into the house after three years of renovations. He also mentioned how he helped rescue his 94-year-old neighbor who suffers from dementia.

Pacific Palisades, an upscale neighborhood known for its celebrity residents, is located about 20 miles west of downtown Los Angeles. Prominent figures like Jennifer Aniston, Bradley Cooper, Eugene Levy, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Reese Witherspoon, Adam Sandler, and Michael Keaton call this area home, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Other celebrities, including Billy Crystal, Mel Gibson, Milo Ventimiglia, and Ricki Lake, have also confirmed that they have lost their homes in the Los Angeles wildfires.
