Eaton and Palisades fires: Check out initial damage maps released by Los Angeles County
LOS ANGELES − Damage evaluations are currently being carried out across Los Angeles as fires rage on for the sixth consecutive day.
These fires have resulted in the deaths of at least 16 individuals and over 100,000 residents have been forced to evacuate, with another 87,000 warned to prepare to leave if they haven’t already. Nearly 40,000 acres have been consumed by the flames as of Sunday, as reported by CalFire.
On Saturday, Los Angeles County released initial damage maps for the Eaton and Palisades fires, which allow residents to check if their properties have been affected by the fires.
The map pages include a notice stating that damage evaluations are still in progress and that the maps may not reflect all damage, but updates are made daily.
To date, over 1,213 structures have been lost in the Eaton Fire, while at least 604 have been reported destroyed in the Palisades Fire, which are currently 27% and 11% contained respectively, as per CalFire’s latest updates on Sunday afternoon.
