‘Senseless crime:’ Arizona flight attendant killed in Denver stabbing during layover

The American Airlines flight attendant, Celinda Levno, was known for her selflessness and kindness, and her passion for family, friends, and horses

A man has been taken into custody linked to a series of stabbings in Denver that resulted in the deaths of two individuals, one of whom was an Arizona flight attendant on a layover, with two others sustaining injuries.

On Saturday evening, two individuals were injured and one woman was fatally stabbed in the downtown area of Denver, according to a statement from the local police on Monday.

“Officers are looking into two more stabbings in the vicinity that may be connected. There is a significant police presence in the area as they gather information and identify suspects,” the Denver police shared through social media.

While the police did not reveal the names of the stabbing victims, American Airlines confirmed to YSL News that Celinda Levno, a 71-year-old flight attendant, was the woman who was fatally stabbed on Saturday.

“We are devastated and mourning the loss of our colleague, who fell victim to a senseless act of violence. Our thoughts and support go out to her family, loved ones, and colleagues. We are committed to assisting law enforcement in their investigation,” the airline stated.

‘A tragic event’

On Sunday, the Association of Professional Flight Attendants released a statement to commemorate Levno’s life.

“We stand in solidarity with Celinda’s family, friends, and our colleagues in Phoenix Inflight as they cope with this tragic event,” stated the association. “Celinda’s affection for her horses, friends, and family will forever be cherished.”

To those who knew her, Levno was recognized as a compassionate individual, a talented musician, and an avid animal lover.

“Every action she took was for the benefit of others,” noted Josephine Dale, a close friend of Levno, in a statement to the Arizona Republic, part of the YSL News Network. “She will always be with us, and her passion for horses will continue through all of us.”

Denver police have made an arrest

On Monday, Denver police announced that they had arrested 24-year-old Elijah Caudill in relation to the stabbings that resulted in Levno’s death and another unidentified male victim, along with injuries to two others.

Authorities reported that Caudill is being held on charges of murder and attempted murder. There is no attorney listed for him in court records.

Records from the Denver courts obtained by YSL News indicate that Caudill has a prior criminal history, including four warrants for missed court appearances related to charges of criminal mischief, assault, sexual contact without consent, and indecent exposure.

As reported by CBS News Denver, Caudill appeared in a Denver courtroom on Monday and is being held without bond.
