Stars Unite for Fundraising Concert to Support LA Wildfire Relief

Jon Cryer, Melanie Lynskey, and others participate in Concert for America to aid LA wildfire relief

Concert for America is stepping up its commitment to support victims of the recent wildfires in Los Angeles.

The concert event scheduled for Inauguration Day will now serve to raise donations for the California Community Foundation, which assists with recovery efforts for those affected by the wildfires, as announced by event producers Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley Jackson on Wednesday.

Emmy-winning actor Jon Cryer and his wife, television host Lisa Joyner, will lead the fundraiser in LA, featuring virtual contributions from a variety of stars such as Melanie Lynskey, Jason Ritter, Julie Bowen, Adam Scott, Caroline Rhea, among others.

The program will showcase musical performances by Wayne Brady, Cheyenne Jackson, Rachel Bay Jones, and Carly Hughes.

“The full impact of the ongoing devastation in Los Angeles is uncertain, but the demand for support will persist for months and possibly years ahead,” Rudetsky and Jackson stated in a joint message. “We couldn’t hold a benefit event without addressing this crisis, connecting with our friends and colleagues nationwide, and giving back in the best way we know how.”

Numerous fires have erupted in the LA area since January 7, destroying neighborhoods and leaving behind severe destruction. At least 25 individuals have lost their lives in these incidents. Around 82,400 residents of the county are under mandatory evacuation orders, while an additional 90,400 are facing evacuation warnings, as reported by Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service has issued a “particularly dangerous situation” red flag warning for Los Angeles and Ventura counties, expected to remain in effect through Wednesday afternoon. Wind gusts in mountain areas could reach 50-70 mph, according to the weather service’s forecasts. Coastal and valley regions may experience winds up to 50 mph.

A variety of celebrities are set to join Concert for America during its in-person segment in New York, which will include appearances by Ingrid Michaelson, Richard Kind, Cecily Strong, Rosie Perez, Nina West, and many more.

“Concert for America has always aimed to bring together our artistic community to raise awareness and funds for those facing challenges, as well as the organizations tirelessly striving to help them,” said Rudetsky and Jackson.

Several human rights advocacy groups will be featured during the event, such as the Sierra Club, Southern Poverty Law Center, The National Immigration Law Center, Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, Spill the Honey, A Is For, and others.

Concert for America will take place at The Town Hall in New York City on Monday at 7 p.m. General admission tickets start at $35, and special donation packages are available, offering benefits like VIP seating, a preshow party, autographed memorabilia, and more.
