Which other apps are impacted by the TikTok ban? Lemon8, CapCut, and Marvel Snap are among them
Users in the U.S. who already have the banned apps installed on their devices will still see them, but they are unlikely to function.
After months of speculation, TikTok went offline on Saturday evening, just hours before a legislative ban was enforced on Sunday. However, TikTok isn’t the only app facing unavailability.
Lemon8, CapCut (Video Editor), and Marvel Snap are also affected, all of which are connected to ByteDance, the Chinese parent company that some officials in the U.S. view as a potential national security issue.
With the ban in place, it is now illegal for app stores and internet hosting services to offer platforms owned by ByteDance, such as TikTok. Although the Apple App Store and Google Play Store will not delete these apps from devices where they’ve already been installed, users will no longer be able to access them.
A notification on the TikTok app and website states, “A law prohibiting TikTok has been put in place in the U.S. Unfortunately, this means TikTok is currently inaccessible.” It goes on to mention, “We are glad President Trump is willing to collaborate with us on a solution to restore TikTok after he assumes office. Please stay tuned!”
President-elect Trump has vowed to “save” TikTok and recently told NBC News that he plans to likely grant a 90-day reprieve to prevent the ban. TikTok’s CEO, Shou Zi Chew, is slated to attend Trump’s inauguration on Monday.
Here’s what you need to know about other apps impacted by the TikTok ban.
Which apps are banned along with TikTok?
The Apple App Store has shared the following list of apps associated with ByteDance or its subsidiaries that are now banned:

What occurs with banned apps if they’re already installed?
For any U.S. user who has previously installed a banned app, it will remain on their device, but they won’t receive software updates that could affect functionality, security, and compatibility, as noted by the Apple App Store.
