The upcoming vice presidential debate will feature Minnesota’s Governor Tim Walz and Ohio’s Senator JD Vance, as both have accepted an invitation from CBS News to participate.

This week, CBS News announced that it had invited both candidates to debates on September 17, September 24, October 1, and October 8. The running mate of Kamala Harris confirmed on X that he will indeed be debating on October 1, responding to Vance with, “See you on October 1, JD.”

During an appearance on Fox News that same day, Vance indicated he is likely to participate in the debate on that date, but he first wishes to review the moderators and the format. On Thursday, he confirmed on X that he has accepted the invitation for October 1 and expressed interest in debating on September 18 as well.

“The American public deserves as many debates as they can get, which is why President Trump has already challenged Kamala to three debates,” Vance stated in response to Walz. “I’m excited to see you at both!”

Both Harris and Trump have agreed to take part in a debate on September 10 hosted by ABC News, with the Trump campaign suggesting two more debates as well.

As of Thursday morning, Walz had not publicly accepted the proposed debate on September 18. YSL News has reached out to Harris’s campaign for further details.

CBS News has announced that evening news anchor Norah O’Donnell and “Face the Nation” moderator Margaret Brennan will oversee the October 1 debate.
