Who is Jon Lovett? What to know about the former Obama speechwriter on ‘Survivor’ 47
Lovett is a former aide to Barack Obama and hosts the ‘Pod Save America’ and ‘Lovett Or Leave It’ podcasts. He admits to having no outdoor experience and recalls camping: ‘I threw up and went home’
“Survivor” is known for casting a diverse range of contestants, and the upcoming season continues this tradition.
This season will include a mix of participants such as an emergency room doctor, a construction worker, a graphic designer, and a flight school owner, along with political podcast host Jon Lovett.
At 42 years old, Lovett previously served as a speechwriter for former President Barack Obama. He is currently a co-host of “Pod Save America,” sharing the platform with fellow ex-aides Jon Favreau, Dan Pfeiffer, and Tommy Vietor. Together, they founded the progressive podcasting company Crooked Media in 2017, coinciding with the start of Trump’s presidency.
In addition, the Long Island native hosts “Lovett Or Leave It,” a weekly comedic podcast that analyzes the “most significant and ridiculous stories in politics and culture.”
Lovett says he had no outdoor experience
The series will showcase Lovett as he competes with 17 other castaways on a Fiji island, all aiming to earn the title of “sole survivor” and a grand prize of $1 million.
In a promotion for the show, Lovett acknowledged his lack of outdoor skills, which are crucial for tasks like building shelters, starting fires, foraging for food, and handling tough physical challenges.
“What am I doing here? My only camping experience is when I threw up and went home as a cub scout,” Lovett stated.
It remains uncertain how far Lovett will progress in the game, since contestants are eliminated with each episode, and whether he will ultimately survive longer than his competitors.
