Lady Gaga Shines on Bold Vogue Cover, Discusses Engagement to Michael Polansky
Lady Gaga is gracing magazine covers once more.
The singer of “Die with a Smile” is featured on the October edition of Vogue, during which she shared insights about her relationship with fiancé Michael Polansky, whom she met in 2019 thanks to her mother, Cynthia Germanotta.
“Mom met him and told me, ‘I think I just found your husband,’ but I was not ready to meet my husband yet! I never expected Mom would introduce me to someone so perfect for me,” Gaga revealed to Vogue.
The couple’s first encounter took place at Sean Parker’s 40th birthday party in Los Angeles, where they spent three hours engrossed in conversation. Polansky recalled stepping into the party and quickly learning that Gaga wanted to see him.
“I knew little about her and was uncertain of what to expect, but her genuine warmth and curiosity regarding my life in Minnesota really impressed me,” he said.
Gaga and Polansky Grew Closer During the Pandemic
“I had never known anyone like Michael. He’s incredibly smart and kind. Our lives are quite different; he’s a private person, and he’s with me simply because we suit each other. I want my fans to know that I am genuinely happy and healthy,” Gaga stated.
She reflected on her 2020 album “Chromatica,” which was released during that difficult time: “Last time they heard from me like this was during Chromatica, which came from a truly tough period for my mental health. I was in a dark place for many years before that.”
Gaga explained that meeting Polansky was a pivotal moment when “everything started to change. I found a true friend who understood my struggles and wasn’t afraid to deeply know me, to genuinely hold my hand.”
They got engaged in April after a day of rock climbing, and Michael encouraged her to create new pop music.
“Michael is the one who inspired me to make another pop album. He said, ‘Babe, I love you, and you should create pop music,'” Gaga shared, with Polansky adding, “Like anyone does for their loved ones, I urged her to embrace the joy in it. I saw her passion during the Chromatica tour and wanted to help sustain that spark while she made music that brought her joy.”
Gaga’s Vogue Feature Coincides with ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’
The couple is enjoying their time together now.
This week, they wowed on the Venice International Film Festival red carpet for the premiere of “Joker: Folie à Deux.” The film, a sequel to 2019’s “Joker,” received at least an 11-minute ovation from the audience, as reported by Deadline and Variety.
Gaga looked stunning in a black Christian Dior gown paired with a Philip Treacy headpiece, while Polansky complemented her in a classic suit. They posed together, showcasing Gaga’s impressive engagement ring.
The couple has spent their summer abroad. While attending the 2024 Paris Olympic Games in late July, Gaga introduced her partner as her “fiancé” during a chat with French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal.
In a TikTok video shared by Attal on July 28, the “Bad Romance” singer introduced Polansky to the French official while at a swimming event.
Gaga also made headlines during her performance at the Olympics’ opening ceremony, dazzling Paris. Joined by dancers, she performed a French-themed act by the Seine River, honoring Zizi Jeanmaire’s “Mon Truc En Plumes,” which translates to “My Thing with Feathers.”
Publicly linked since New Year’s Eve 2019, Gaga previously had engagements with actor Taylor Kinney in 2015, which ended, and talent agent Christian Carino, which also concluded in 2019.
