‘Bachelorette’ Jenn Tran speaks on finale heartbreak: ‘I am grieving’

Jenn Tran is feeling the weight of her “Bachelorette” relationship’s conclusion, yet she’s also embracing a sense of gratitude.

The recent season of “Bachelorette,” featuring 21-year-old Tran, concluded last Tuesday amid a cascade of emotions after her engagement to Devin Strader ended abruptly with him allegedly claiming he never loved her, delivering the news in a brief 15-minute phone conversation. In a heartfelt Instagram message posted on Thursday, the 26-year-old Tran expressed her commitment to maintaining grace through the breakup.

“My feelings for the person I loved will always remain, and I genuinely wish him well on his path,” she shared.

She went on to add, “I’m still in the process of healing. The past few months have been tough, and I find it challenging to comprehend my feelings right now. However, I know that I deserve unconditional and unwavering love, no matter when it comes into my life.”

Tran also extended her gratitude to fans for their “infinite love,” particularly recognizing the Asian American audience that followed her journey. “Being the first Asian American bachelorette has been a profoundly healing experience for me,” she wrote.

Jenn Tran’s complete statement following the ‘Bachelorette’ finale

“I hardly know where to begin! I entered this journey looking for true love, and along the way, I found infinite support from bachelor nation and many others.

“The last few months have been an emotional rollercoaster. I truly couldn’t have managed without your support. For all of you who saw a part of yourselves in my story – whether it was your past or present experiences – we’re all striving to become the best versions of ourselves. We are not defined by our moments of struggle, but by how we choose to grow from them.

“Thank you for welcoming my story into your hearts. Being the first Asian American bachelorette has been a healing journey for me, and I’m thrilled to see my community come together. No matter where you are in your personal identity journey, always remember that you are worthy and you are perfect just as you are.

“Although my love story didn’t conclude as I had anticipated… what you witnessed is merely a glimpse of our journey as two authentic individuals navigating a complex scenario. My heart is heavy with grief, yet I need to make space for forgiveness and keep the focus on what truly matters – my heart. Despite the emotional turmoil on stage, I will always cherish the love I had for the person I fell for and I sincerely wish him well on his journey ahead.

“I also want to recognize the heartbreak that many feel globally as it’s a universal experience. To all the romantics out there, remember: our greatest gift is the capacity of our hearts. Experiencing love, even if it ends in pain, is more valuable than never having loved at all.

“Lastly, I’m still on the path of healing. The past months have been tough to process, and it will likely continue to be so as I seek to understand my heart better. Nonetheless, I am certain that I deserve love that is complete and unwavering whenever it may appear in my life.”
