Every JetBlue passenger can now bring a carry-on bag for free
Starting from Friday, JetBlue customers will be allowed to bring a carry-on bag at no extra cost, irrespective of the type of ticket they purchased. This policy change means that even those traveling with the Blue Basic fare, which is JetBlue’s entry-level economy option, can now bring a carry-on bag without additional charge.
Before this update, passengers with Blue Basic tickets had to either pay for a pricier ticket fare or an added fee to bring a bag that fits in the overhead compartment.
“Carry-on bags play a crucial role in the travel experience for our customers. We want to make JetBlue the obvious choice when they compare us to other airlines,” stated JetBlue’s president, Marty St. George. “This change reflects our commitment to evolving our services to meet customer needs, enhancing their experience while maintaining our competitive edge in the market.”
While Blue Basic fares now include a free carry-on bag, it remains the most limited ticket option available from JetBlue. These tickets do not allow for free checked luggage and do not offer advanced seat selection. Additionally, Blue Basic tickets come with a cancellation fee of $100.
