Oregon police locate the body of a missing newlywed bride; neighbor charged with murder

Authorities in Oregon have found the body of a newlywed who disappeared unexpectedly last week and have arrested her neighbor in connection with the incident.

The Beaverton Police Department reported that Melissa Jubane was reported missing on Wednesday, September 4, after officers checked her apartment and found her absent.

She lived in Beaverton, which is about 8 miles from Portland.

Law enforcement was prompted to conduct a wellness check at Jubane’s home when she failed to show up for her shift at St. Vincent Hospital that morning.

“When officers arrived, they were assisted by apartment management to search Melissa’s apartment,” the police stated. “Melissa was not there, and her unexpected disappearance without any communication was considered unusual and concerning.”

Authorities noted that Jubane’s phone was turned off, making it impossible for detectives and her family to contact her. Additionally, her bank activity did not provide any helpful information regarding her location.

Jubane celebrated her wedding in August, according to family

The investigation led to the arrest of her 27-year-old neighbor, Bryce Johnathan Schubert, who now faces murder charges.

While Jubane’s body has been recovered, details regarding the location of the discovery remain undisclosed. Authorities stated that further information is being kept private “to maintain the integrity” of the investigation.

“We sincerely appreciate the support from community members who helped in the search for Melissa,” the department expressed. “Our deepest sympathies are with Melissa’s family, friends, and coworkers during this difficult time.”

As reported by KHON2, Jubane married her husband, Bryan, just last month. Their wedding ceremony took place at Waimea Valley in Hawaii.

“I miss her,” shared her mother-in-law, Imelda Llantero. “I’m grateful that Bryan found her, and I always told him to cherish her. They brought each other happiness, true happiness.”
