Tate Ratledge Injury Update: Expected Absence for Several Weeks
In their SEC opener against Kentucky, Georgia football faced a setback when senior offensive lineman Tate Ratledge was injured.
Reports on Monday indicate that Ratledge will likely be sidelined for several games. An MRI revealed he has a sprained MCL in his left knee along with a sprained ankle. This news was initially shared by Rusty Mansell of DawgsHQ.
Ratledge’s injury occurred during the second quarter of the Bulldogs’ narrow victory over the Wildcats, which ended 13-12.
This season marks Ratledge’s third as a starter for Georgia. Last year, he helped the team achieve the top rank in the SEC for fewest sacks allowed, with an average of just 0.93 per game, and a fifth-place ranking nationally for total offense, posting an impressive 496.5 yards per game.
Georgia’s head coach, Kirby Smart, is scheduled to discuss the matter during the SEC coaches call tomorrow.
Here is the latest information regarding Ratledge’s injury as Georgia prepares for its bye week:
Tate Ratledge Injury Update
Ratledge is currently sidelined due to a sprained MCL in his left knee as well as a sprained ankle.
The 6-foot-6 offensive lineman fell during the second quarter of Saturday’s match against Kentucky, grabbing his left leg and calling for assistance from the sideline. He had to be assisted off the field by the team’s medical staff, as reported by Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald.
“I was informed about the ankle and knee injuries, but I’m uncertain about which is more serious,” Smart stated after the game. “I don’t have detailed information at this point.”
Following the game, Ratledge was seen in street clothes with a walking boot and crutches as he left the field in Lexington, Kentucky.
Expected Recovery Time for Tate Ratledge
According to Weiszer, Ratledge is anticipated to return for the game against Florida on November 2 at Sanford Stadium in Athens.
After a bye in Week 4, Georgia will face ranked opponents, including No. 4 Alabama, Mississippi State, and No. 2 Texas over the following weeks. They will have another bye in Week 8 on October 26.
