Tia Mowry reveals she’s distanced from sister Tamera during her divorce
Tia Mowry is opening up about her strained relationship with her twin sister, Tamera Mowry-Housley.
The actress, known for her role in “Sister, Sister,” discussed her bond with Mowry-Housley, who previously co-hosted the daytime show “The Real,” in a trailer for her new WeTV documentary series “Tia Mowry: My Next Act.”
“The hardest part of my divorce has been feeling alone,” Mowry shares in the trailer from clips shared on social media. “In these moments, I really wish my sister and I were close enough that I could just call her, but that’s not where we stand currently.”
The reasons behind the tension between Mowry and Mowry-Housley remain unclear.
Mowry reflected, “I’ve always desired a family structure with both parents under one roof. Now, seeing my kids being dropped off, I can physically see that it isn’t the case anymore.” In 2022, she announced her separation from her ex-husband, actor Cory Hardrict, after 14 years of marriage via a widely shared Instagram post.
Tia and Hardrict have two children together: a son named Cree and a daughter named Cairo.
In her docuseries trailer, which chronicles her life after the divorce, she mentions, “This is the first time I’m truly recognizing that I have options. I can express my thoughts, I can be myself, I can pursue happiness.” In a touching moment, she breaks down, acknowledging, “I never realized I had a choice.”
Tia Mowry has a long history in acting and continues to explore new ventures
The actress gained widespread recognition in the 1990s alongside her sister Mowry-Housley as one of Hollywood’s most famous twin duos. They starred together in the popular ABC sitcom “Sister, Sister,” which ran for six seasons before branching out into their individual careers in film and television.
They also appeared together in the movies “Twitches” (2005) and its sequel, “Twitches Too,” before Mowry-Housley later became a co-host on “The Real,” a daytime talk show focusing on women of color.
Recently, Tia Mowry was featured in the Netflix comedy “Family Reunion” and has launched her own line of cookbooks as well as a hair product line called “4U By Tia.”
